IIRC, you have to remve the windshield to get to the front mounting screws.

You can use a pick to lift the weatherstrip up and see where the screws are. We have been able to cut a semi circle out of the rubber and remove the screws. Takes about an hour to remove and about the same to reinstall. What color dash are you after?

Mine was red and painted in grey and it turned out ok... Not the greatest but ok... Hard to keep it wet with a spray can to make it look uniform.. Good luck at getting to the screws, it has to be tight getting to them with the windshield in but would be worth the time to try... Popping the windhield out is pretty fun too...Well it depends if your trying to save it..lol

i plan on keeping the windshield it has no cracks but removing it would hopefully let me get rid of the little leak from it when it rains

I would rather take the dash out again than take the springs off. It's not that bad and when you get it all back you'll know the inside of your 1st gen like no one else. It's really not that bad!!

I took the windshield out. There's a guy lives close that put it back in with a new seal. There may be a way to do it w/o taking the glass out. I've never tried that.
