Removing the Cummins with Getrag?

Has anyone removed the engine with Getrag still attached? I know they are really heavy, but I have a forklift to help with the job. I already have the front clip out of the way and everything ready. I have never taken the engine out before and wondering if anyone who has more experience with this has any tips.

probably doable. I don't think I would try with the front clip on the truck but since you already have it off.

I have even seen 12Vs pulled with the trans and T-case still attached.
With the front clip missing and a fork truck it should be pretty easy.

I searched for some time leading up to my engine extraction. Consensus seemed to be no. Apparently there isn't enough room between the suspension crossmember and cab... the Getrag shift tower gets in the way.

I got creative and pulled it out in one shot.

Didn't know you were asking about a D250 (2wd). I could of answered that w/a definite NO. The oil pan sump hits the crossmember and the valve cover hits the firewall. I just jacked my cab up about 4". You got by very creatively.

Just make sure you support it or things will crack. That's how I cracked my T-case

I guess I am gonna play it safe and pull the getrag first. It does look really tight with the shift tower. Gonna pull the engine today.......Thanks for the replies

Jacking up the cab is a unique way to go about it!!!

I usually loosen the rear cab bolts, and remove the front cab bolts.
Then with a floor jack carefully lift the front of the cab and place a few 2x6 wood blocks under the cab mounts for a little extra clearance.
Pulling the shifter stub off the 'Rag helps too.
