rear drive shaft U joint R & R

I've diagnosed my noise to this point. I am a little lost as to how to remove this and replace it. I've looked at it up close and before I get aggravated etc etc. Can someone P.M. me to how to do this?

Please....any input is greatly appreciated.

This is for 89 dump truck auto in sig.

I have to do the same thing and any Part #'s would be great. I found the Spicer # 5-160X in the sticky and want to make sure that this is the same number for the earlier trucks.

Remove driveshaft. Depending on the wheelbase of your C&C truck you may have a 2 piece, in that case only the rear half needs to come down. Just unbolt the u-joint caps and out it comes. Remove the circlips and press the bearing cups out of the driveshaft, this can be done with a big hammer and some sockets or pieces of pipe if you don't have access to a press. Install the new u-joint by putting the cross in, then pressing the bearing cups in to meet it. Make sure no needle bearings get out of place while doing this. Put the driveshaft back in, pump some grease in 'er, and you are done.

Don't over tighten the bolts for the u-joint straps. I think 25 ft lbs is all they require. If you overtighten them, they'll be a bear to get back off. Previous owner of my '90 CTD 5spd overtightened them, the drain plug for the gear vendors, and a few other things, to the point that a I had to use a bolt-out tool to get them out. I use blue loctite on them, as well.
