re wiring od
Nope, the dash switch is monetary only. It sends a signal to the PCM which turns the light on or off depending on wether you want OD or not. The PCM will then decide when to engage OD or not to engage.
Anyway, the selinoid in the trans already has constant 12v (when the key is on) to it. All you need to do is ground the other wire to engage OD. A simple 2 position switch will do the job, just find a nice place to mount it.

Thanks I`m going to eliminate original od switch and put a switch for od in place of it, Thought that would be nice place.
would like to have a light to remind me that its on though.

Yea thats neat, thats what i want to eventually do, but dont have time to surch salvage parts ,and get it and install it before i leave on friday. I`m just removing Od switch repluging it in behind dash incase it goes to something else and putting a new switch in its olace on dash to turn it on and off for now then it leaves me the option to do it like yours later.
did you just hooh to the ground side and switch that on the silinoid ? thought i would do that because its supose to have 12v constant when key is on , so putting a wire to ground and putting switch in that should work

should`nt be much only two wires on it on trans. just take tester and find hot wire and then cut the other and find a ground under dash and put a switch in line ! I THINK
Wiring is simply. And the part is cheap new from the dealer. Here's a thread with complete instructions: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ad.php?t=65637
Mine has a switch on the dash to control my lockup converter. Works just like the OD selinoid.
The switch is tied to ground. The other wire from the switch goes to the proper wire on the trans. Yours has 2, (mine has 3) Unplug the conector from the trans, make sure there is no dirt around it because it will fall into the connector and make life difficult. Turn the key on and find which wire has 12v, splice the wire from your new switch to the OTHER wire on that plug. Plug the connector back in and take it for a test ride.
You should have OD on demand now. Just remember to turn it off if your going slow or taking off a stop.

I used a floor light dimmer swt that I just tap with my left foot to engage OD. It just picks up a grnd from under the dash then runs thru the firewall, down to the tranny and grounds the orange wire. I also have a light hooked on to it to remind me when its engaged so I don't forgot to kick it out when coming to a stop.
