Random A/C question

Has anyone noticed a difference in mpg when using the a/c vs not? trying to decide whether or not to get the belt for it

on our gas E350 van it goes down maybe 2 mpg. Goes from 12 to 10 I think.

I dont think the ac really bogs down the beast enough to hurt mileage.

Kinda what I was thinking too. Not like a 4 cyl. that loses half its momentom when the compressor cycles.

I've never noticed any difference. I can make a lot bigger difference in the use of my right foot than AC ever does. I think Mom might see a 1mpg difference in her 92 auto in the heat of August.

Daniel has it right. No difference in mine either, except when I have my foot all up in it.
These things have too much torque to notice a compressor cycling.

It's been proven that driving with your windows down hurts your mileage worse than the A/C will. Our trucks make so much torque that I never notice any difference at all.

On newer aerodynamic vehicles. None of those terms apply to our trucks. That said, with the Cummins I doubt there would be a reproducible difference.
