Question about pricing on a first gen

Alright guys Im lookin to replace my silverado finally but would like to have an older style truck with a lift and have always wanted a diesel so I started shoppin around and found this. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...en&cardist=200 and KBB puts it at about 6000 for indivdual buyer and I was wondering what would be a good offering price on this truck?

That is a nice truck! but for 10000.00 I dont think so. I buy and sell a bunch of pickups and I have a rule to never pay more for a truck than you could sell it for quickly if you get in a financial bind. If you really want it I would think 5to6k would be fine If you can afford it. But be patient and the right one will be found. You could find a nice intercooled with a few mods for that price. Also look in the northwest states there seem to be more deals on first gens here.

It's about $5k over priced. Although it may have a Banks intercooler. I would offer $6k tops if you really had to have it. It might just be me, but I don't care for the big lift and stupid looking fender flares.

I'm not just picking on alborado or anyone else that replied but I too have been messing with trucks for over 20 years as my hobby and GENERALLY I agree with what they say BUT ----#1 Here's the biggest thing about this deal to me.
If that sort of truck is what really blows your dress up , and i admit it's a fine LOOKING job on it, than I can can tell you that you could never take the average $5-6 K W250 and make it look or run like that for less than 10K(he'll take 9K i'm sure). if you are buying to keep then talk to the guy a lot and see if he makes you fell secure about all the work thats been done especially ask about any hidden body flaws and the condition of the WHOLE drivetrain..
#2- that truck IS most likely intercooled because it has the Banks kit installed and even has the grille.
#3- it's not a belly button 2nd gen(no insult intended) and it's rare to see a first gen done that nice so it is going to garner attention.
#4 -most STOCK 4x4 second gens start at $10K
#5- plenty of support here no matter what year you decide on.

BAD-
#6-your not getting a loan officer to agree about the $ worth of the truck.
#7- if something happens to it your insurance won't agree to that $ either.
#8- some people, just consider first gens Ugly so no matter what it looks like now, its still ugly to them. I actually used to think that back when they came out cause the Chevys were so Purdy,, but years later i saw Honda Ridgelines, Subaru Baja's and Chevy Avalanches and have a whole new outlook on whats UGLY now :-) . I own a first gen now and think it manly looking, if not handsome.

I bet most of the guys on this forum could and have built some pretty nice trucks for much less then 10k. But sometimes if you want something bad enough you just have to pay for it. Just ask a married man.

ITs a manual so be readdy to shell out the big bucks. BTW All those guys (like myself) out there trying to find 91-93 talgate and panels, the 89-90s are non existant. count your blessing and be happy you can spend $400 on a tailgate that is availabe

lets see, 5000.00 truck, 1500.00 banks kit (whichis no longer available), 1000.00 wheels and tires, 1000.00 winch and mounts, and a decent paint job (how much you wanna spend). 4wd stick aint the easiest to come by. would i give 9000.00 for it, no, but then i've already got 2 sittin in the driveway.

Oh daryl you had to go there, LOL
I wasn't going to stir the pot , but i knew my 3rd grade math wasn't failing me when i made the earlier comment. Or maybe someone never looked thru a Summit catalog to see what stuff costs.

03CTDLB- Simple yes or no- If everything is FRESH( tires- paint-interior) and it really looks that good in person then YES I would throw 8-9K at it. you can spend $4k for a nice BC/CC paint job nowdays .
