Putting a NV4500 in the first Gen

Well about a week ago i ended up getting a newer cummins since i will be doing a lot of long distance travelling and wonted something comfortable. The first time i test drove it i was in love with the NV4500. So.....i called a buddy of mine from the local wreckers and he said he's got a fully rebuilt one with bellhousing, adaptor plate, hyraulics, and starter all for $1300. I think i'm gona go for it and put one in the first gen. I can only imagine how it will be in the first gen.

On a side note the second gen in just a dog compared to the first gen. But it is stock........now the first gen becomes a full out PLAY truck.

I also got a 3.54 posi going in it this week as well so i might have to try some donuts out

Tranny Question ? ?

Not sure what you are asking but if it is on upgrade. Changed mine out
over 100k ago and have never been sorry. Suggest you deal w/5th gear before you install in truck. R C

What did you like so much about the NV4500? you might wanna thing about putting in a shift kit before you put it in your first gen it will make it even more fun to drive and better times at the track

Shift kit for a NV4500???????? Thought shift kits were only for auto's

The fifth gear is already dealt with. From what i understand it is a upgraded nut on the fifth gear.

The tranny was very nice to shift compared to the getrag..... and made wayyyyy less noise.

i almost forgot
if you do this go get 2 allen head bellhousing bolts
for the top it is neer impossable to get the upper
bolts tight with a wrench or socket but a ball tipped
allen socket would work nicely if you have any questions
please feel free to ask
