Retarded - white smoke, bad mileage, no power

Advanced - black smoke, loud clatter, hard to start, holey pistons

Bad LP - hard to start, no power, dies under load

well when I start it after work it runs rough and blows white smoke until it warms up, does it even worse if you unplug the ksb valve, but after it warms up it seems to run smooth. sounds like a cummins but also sounds like there might be another sound, knocking or ticking under that.

sorry obout all the repetative posts, I just want to figure it out without dumping a whole bunch of money into things that are not broke

I'd guess some advance would help the white smoke. Mine's black whether cold or pulling hard, none visible otherwise. Oh, my IP timing is stock, or at least untouched by me.

How recent is your fuel filter? Sounds like timing is back a bit, but I think it may be caused by a fuel restriction to the VE which is limiting the timing piston in the pump from doing its job due to low case pressure. Everybody needs a FP gauge---myself included

Yeah I need to put a fuel pressure gauge in it. the fuel firlter is brand new stuck a new one on again when I put the head gasket and push rod in last weekend. am going to try to get a fuel pressure gauge in this weekend and bumb the timing a bit to see if that will solve the problem
thanks

will let you guys know what I find out
