pump? (pic)

ok so my pump has this electric sender attatched to it. i am assuming i just remove this to start the normal tweaks?

That is the throttle position sensor for your auto transmission. You do have to take the bracket off to take the cover off of the AFC.

It looks as though your pump has been re-manufactured, though, sinced it doesn't have any cummins paint on it, and someone took the tamper cover off of the "smoke-screw".

so to advance my timing on this bucket. just losen the bolts and rotate the pump towards the motor? shouldnt be to touch once i losen the nuts.

No it ain't hard at all...once you get all the nuts loose. Make sure you disconnect the tube from the AFC housing on top of the pump, too. Best way to get the top nut is with a 1/4" drive ratchet with about 10 inches of extensions and a U-joint, you can snake it in from up by the intake elbow. The bracket on the back is easy, so is the nut on the side. The bottom nut requires a bent wrench, Harbor Freight sells a $10 set of S-shaped wrenches that work awesome. Have fun.

you sure you don't have it? maybe the sensor is messed up and not letting it shift. or you truck has had some redneck like me working on it and used parts off a different truck lol.
