Pump gone
Pump gone
226,000 miles and the inj. pump took a dump, wanting to know the cheapest pump out there then its up for sale, going back to a gasser.any thoughts would be helpful thanks in advance.
Bailing on the diesel because of a bad IP is like dumping a gasser because the timing chain needs to be done. Yes the diesel repairs are more expensive, but the pay off in reliability and fuel economy helps off set that initial cost.
My truck cost me at least a couple grand, on top of the $6K I paid for it, to get it back on the road. The fuel savings alone in the last few months, compared to my old gasser, has probably saved me at least $500 or more. By next year the fuel savings alone will have paid for all the repairs I had to do to the truck.

My local pump and injector shop rebuilds a VE pump for 550 dollars.
Getting upset and selling a truck over a pump rebuild every 225k miles seems kind of extreme.
