vapor run into the intake manifold system would have to be on the negative pressure side; not the turbo side; as this would pressurize the crankcase, water vapor and oil mist may gum up the impellor and if run into the filter box contaminate the air filter pre-maturely?? any comments as to what the post '08 diesels are doing with their closed systems??; would like to hear about that system as I'm thinking of upgarding my PVC on my 1st Gen; '89 D250.

The ideal would be a vacuum pump to pull a vacuum in the crankcase. That makes the rings seal really well. I have a vane style vacuum pump for racing that i am trying to figure out how to mount.

Nice write-up.
I like the fact that you are thinking about the entire engine not just injectors and turbos!

It's been ten (10) years since I wrote this article.

Based on the dates of my posts in this thread, I've been running the two valve-cover breather vents to my cold air intake for nine (9) years thus far.
In this thread, a number of folks voiced concerns of an oily mess occurring.

I've NEVER had an issue with any form of excess oil being deposited in the intake tract what so ever in the nine years I've done so.
