My power steering pump has been leaking for about a month now. It leaks more when i drive long distances than just cruising around town. It looks like something is pressurizing the pump and its spraying out of the reservior. I have to add power steering fluid about once every week or two. Any ideas?

 

In normal operation the whole system is under some amount of pressure. The return side, including the reservoir, doesn't have that much pressure on it, but it is under pressure. If the o-ring on the reservoir broke it will spray alot of fluid out like you are describing.

 

by spraying out of the resevoir you mean foam coming out of the cap? If so, there is air getting in the system. Either the return line (the one with just hose clamps) or the pump is bad.

 

Might be a good idea to think about a replacement or at the very least watch the level close. Mine did the similar think and it burnt out and had to be replaced.
