Powersteering spitting up?
I was under my truck looking (hoping that 53 flips a digit or two
) and noticed some big oil drips on the front diff cover. Finding the spot it came from revealed the power steering pump. Its alway dirty with oil scum on it so I never look there for leaks. I looked around it and couldnt find any spot where oil could have come from execpt the lid. Checked the oil level and its great. Put the cap on and left it. Not sure if the pump just puked out a little since it doesnt look like it blew around from driving. Maybe turning somewhere it did it. I just installed a new steering stabilizer a 500 or so miles ago too. Though I cant imagine that causing any trouble. I guess I'll keep an eye on it.

It is more than likely the seal in the vacuum pump that is gone as the mess you describe is the same as mine.
Even after a new seal mine still weeps a bit but I dont think I am going to worry about it much.
If its not bad dont worry about it.

Another possibility:
Just posted on this one -- thought my power steering pump was puking or seeping, too -- because it was covered in oil and there were drips under the front differential. Thought the oil was PS fluid. Turned out to be diesel fuel, which looks and smells very similar, and the leak was from a loose injector line.
