Powersteering pump replacement question
Powersteering pump replacement question
Have replaced powersteering pump on my 2001 Dodge Ram Quad. 2500 4X4 and cannot stop the leak between the Drive Spline and Vacuum Pump Drive. I believe that I need to replace the Oil Seal on the Vacuum Pump Drive. Does anyone know where I can find to purchase this seal? Dodge tells me that I have to buy the whole seal kit at $79.00. Expensive for one seal!
Has anyone else experianced this problem with oil leaking? It's just a drip while the motor is running but I don't want any drips.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff

Theres vacuum pump seal rebuild kits from cummins that are cheap. Theres also a guy that advertises on ebay with a DVD and some PVC seal tools. Pretty cheap too. Not 100% if this is for late 2nd gen or not.
I did the rebuild on mine and it went pretty easy

I got this kit: http://www.fixinrams.com/id21.html
Same guy as on eBay. The seal is an updated design that accounts for if the shaft has a groove worn in it from the old seal. Comes with the tools and a video on how to do it. Made the job a breeze, except I wish he would have reminded me to take the oil pressure switch connector loose, as I broke off the tab that holds the plug in when I did mine. This is YOUR reminder, if you have the engine oil pressure switch right behind the PS pump.
