Power screw bottomed at 1.5 turns??
Power screw bottomed at 1.5 turns??
I removed the power screw today,I then removed the tamper collar, and reinstalled it,but from the factory setting I can only get 1 1/2 turns in,before it bottems out against somthing,is this normal?thanx
I dont remember for sure but I believe I went about 3 turns.
As you know when you turn the fuel screw in you have to lower your idle back down to where it was. I went so far in with the fuel screw that the idle screw is backed all the way out.
It is still running, Its been about 40K miles now.
I dont think this a normal recomindation to go that far but I did it at my own risk
Good luck

I tried again tonite to crank it in further, and All I could do was strip the 6mm head on the screw, that is with the locknut backed way off and the threads are good, just cant figure it out.
How many threads should be left sticking past the lock nut with two turns in?thanx again.

What kind of boost are you getting and what are your EGT's like????
That will help determine if the pump was/is turned up to the max. It may be that there was a bit of tweaking done without you knowing (unless you've owned it since new and haven't let anyone under the hood.
Fill us in on the numbers will you 'red

Did you run a nut up the threads to clean them after removing the lock collar? Some are welded heavier than others. Some say they are just tack welded, mine was welded halfway around. I had to do some serious thread cleanup.
You will also know if it is all the way in when you almost have a Run Away motor. That is when you do a quick rev up and let go of the throttle in Park and it takes a little bit for the revs to come back down. This is not recommended as it could happen while driving down the road and you have NO control of go power. I screwed mine in until that point and then backed it off just a tad. Adjust idle after that..... and smoke screw

Its on a freshly rebuilt pump,The threads are good, and my egt's are 700* at 65mph,max boost is 23lb
The only other tweaking done on the pump is the smoke screw in 1 1/2 turns.
It smokes real good at a WOT takeoff, and a little bit at WOT at 65mph,if I'm easy on the pedal,it dosnt smoke at all
After turning the power screw in 1 1/2 turns (till it bottomed)I had to reduce my idle by about a full turn.thanx again.
