PCM Gremlins?

I just discoverd this forum and have an electrical problem that someone else may have dealt with. I have a 91.5 W-250 with the 5 speed trans and the wait to start light and the grid heaters come on from time to time when going down the road. Sometimes they just come on for a few seconds and other times they will be on for 30-45 seconds. It does not seem to matter if I'm on a good road or a rough road. Occasionally the water in fuel light comes on tho keep it company, but not too often. I have checked and cleaned all connectors, grounds and the connector into the PCM. I also ran an extra ground from the engine to the body. I replaced the sensor in the intake manifold and also the ignition switch thinking that I may be momentarily losing power to the PCM and having it reset and then heat the grids like when I first start it up. Any Ideas? If the wait to start and water in fuel are the only things that the PCM does in this truck can they be converted to the little black box that the earlier truck have? Thanks.

Dunno, but I'm waiting for mine to start acting up so I can ditch the WIF, start using a bigger fuel filter and put the grid heaters on a manual dash switch and decide when I want to use them or not.

Probably the easiest thing to do in the long run.

Yes, you could wire up a brain box out of an older truck.

On your truck, not really unless you want to lose the cruise control and have to run the OD with a toggle switch.
