P235/85R16s on front dually 2wd?
I have mixmatched tires on my dually right now. The PO put 235/85s on the back and the fronts have the stock 215/85s on it. I would like to put 235/85s on the front, that way I don't have to worry about carrying two spares, plus I need tires on the front anyway.
I have heard from some people that because of the dually hubs you can't go bigger on the tires. Can someone confirm if it will work or not? I don't want to get new tires to find out they rub or don't fit at all.

not sure if 285s will rub but as far as 285 on the rear it changed your gearing and your speedo will be off and require more hp to turn.. no biggie if your not towing heavy the 285s will be almost 5" bigger if you turn the wheel so your tire is at it closest point see if you have 2.5" to spare or it will rub

And they aren't 285s....... it's 235/85. Big difference.
215/85R16s are around 30" - 30.5" tall.
235/85R16s are 31.5" - 32" tall

You can go up to at least 245 on a first gen. You'll have a slight difference on the speed/odommeter from the 215. Just DON'T run different sizes on the same axle. Even letting one side stay deflated will heat up the carrier and spiders. That's why they say not to run a donut too long on a drive axle. Handling is only part of the concer, you'll cook the trans-axle too.
