ok, spoke too soon. read a little deeper into the thread. the shop manual for our motors says that if the crack from the injector bore extends into the valve seat, the head is not reusable. i priced a new head from cummins the other day. $1159. not worth it. i can buy a new motor for the same price. i'm really crossing my fingers now.

are they stock replicas? i recall searching alabama cylinder head's site the other day and nothing came up with my year make and model. it may just be best to call them and tell them what i'm looking for.

ohhh sweet. i was just about to ask if they were 9mm heads. makes sense like was stated in the thread. i'm hoping i can get a little more time out of mine so that i can get some extra cash on hand to pay for a head and injectors. what injectors would be about the equivalent in size to my stock ones? or would i be better off with an upgraded set? i want as little smoke and haze at idle as i can get. black smoke = $$$ to me. i've set a goal for myself. that goal is, i'd like to make good power and numbers with very little smoke if i can. it almost seems impossible with our VE's, but it's worth a try, right?
I had asked questions about that head awhile back...You will have to keep an eye on EGT's. Pressed in valve seats. get them over 1400, they are going to drop. Just like 24V 2nd GEN's and the early 3rd GENs...Last price on the ACH 12V was $450.00
If you're on a budget, find someone with a set of leftover 7mm sockers and buy them. It'll be a lot cheaper than 190's and pods are too dirty for what you want. EDM's are pretty big bucks...The ACH casting is excellent. I'd sell mine off my '89 engine, but it's getting ported and o-ringed for my '96 in the future. I've got pics of the ACH casting if you'd like to see them.

greg, do you happen to have the part number for the 20 over gasket? cummins told me they only have standard gaskets. the one you put on sure looks like a cummins gasket to me.
