I'm not right that often.

The secret to being right a lot is keeping your mouth shut unless you know the answer.

Just to clarify.... the pressures posted are read directly from a mechanical type gauge. I disconnected/broke the sending unit to put the mechanical gauge in. I really think that my idle pressure is too low and has undergone a sudden change. The normal running pressure doesn't bother me. There is no visible amount of water in the oil. When I changed the oil there was no sudden restoration in the oil pressure. That is why I suspect the valve, which many people have mentioned. I guess it is a credible thought and something I should look into. I haven't killed the dowel pin yet so I could remove the front timing cover to do that and check out the valve too.... CORRECT??? Does anyone know if there is a kit available? What does this valve look like the typical spring and ball bearing types? Thanks so much for your input.

Ha! You thought you'd be crawling around under the truck, didn't you? If you want to check out the pressure regulator, look just forward of the oil filter and you'll see what looks like a bolt head sticking straight up out of a bulge in the side of the filter mount/oil cooler assembly. Unscrew it. There should be a spring (broken maybe?) and then a piston. You can stick your finger down the hole into the piston to retrieve it. Cummins book says to clean it all up and look at it. If the spring is springy and the piston isn't cracked and everything moves freely you are good to go.
