oil pan gasket
oil pan gasket
Mine is leaking like a sive fron the drivers side rear of the pan gasket. Can the gasket be changes with the motor in the truck? If so any tricks, do's or donts?
thanks in advance.

Yes the pan gasket can be changed with the eng in the truck. Before you drop the pan, check the torque of the bolts and clean the eng off to make sure of the source of the leak.
Im so positive it hurts. Ive done the rear main twice when I did clutches, just to eliminate it. After a long road trip you could see the oil streaks down the pan.
So do I need to lift the motor a bit or just let the pan drop the inch or so until it sit on the K-frame and then slide the new gaskets in? Any hints are appreciated.

I did mine mot long ago when I replaced my clutch. I don't know if it can be done with the tranny installed. With the tranny removed, I removed the fan (to protect the radiator), removed the thru bolts from the motor mounts, and raised the motor as high as it would go. You have to go until the back valve cover hits the fire wall. Go slow and make sure nothing else binds. In that position I could slide the pan back and down enough to get it out and change the gasket. Like I said I don't know if you can leave the tranny installed. Hope this helps.
