Oil Pan
No, no rust, its just seeping a little. I snugged the pan bolts tonight, I got about an 1/8 or so turn on all of them. We'll see if that helps for now. I'm hoping it stays dry long enough for me to get another pan and have it chromed before I have to pull it to put in a new gasket.
Yea, it's funny the first gen pans hold up better than the second gen pans.
Get this, I bought a brand new 2nd gen pan from Cummins for $75...
I was quoted from the same parts guy $465 for a first gen pan. And the gaskets are the same, only difference we could think of was the pickup tube style.

Wow, I wasn't expecting that kind of price! I wait till next winter when the truck is back in hibernation and get my own pan chromed!

As far as pulling the pan, I had to unbolt the cab to get mine off. Removed core support lower mount bolts and cab mount bolts at front of doors, and loosened up rear cab mount bolts enough to let it tilt back. I had to raise it a good 6 inches, enough to just touch the bed.
Noise reduction. The SAE paper from the Cummins/Dodge development team mentions it. AFAIK it's a Dodge-only thing. Yet another area where they cheaped out on the 2nd gens.
