NP205 rear yoke nut size?

Hey guys,
I'm going after a socket tomarrow to remove the rear yoke on a NP205 and need to know the exact size. I mic'd it at 33mm's (tight) so i'm guessing its going to be a 34mm socket.

Now, i wouldn't normally be asking this since I did measure it, but once i saw the torque spec on it, 4,000ft lbs, i thought I better ask and make sure I get the right one, not one with a little slop in it.

Anybody remember what size that nut is?

It's either 1-1/4" or 1-5/16", can't remember which.

Sorry can't help, but it should be SAE, not metric. The engine is metric, the truck is SAE. I don't think it's 4,000ft-lbs either LOL. I know torqued is the best, but last time I did one, I just hit it with the impact.

okay, torque is 130ft and i have an 1 1/4 socket, it's too small and a 1 1/2 is way to big.

as for sae and metric, when i removed the front drive shaft, a 3/8's socket fit the front diff and at the t-case a 14mm fit good. as for the rear drive shaft, a 10mm fit the little bolts on the yoke tight. That's why I was leaning toward the metric scale.

If it's SAE then it's 1 5/16 or 1 3/8?

Awesome thanks man! I've been constantly confused with this truck on which tools to use. Either SEA or Metric? After I realized the motor was metric, i assumed the entire drivetrain was metric.

Thanks for clearing up that it is just the diesel that's metric!

and m1guy, thums up, thats just the reply i was looking for!

thanks to everyone else as well! all this info here is what makes this soo great!

Well, I went to town today to get a 1 5/16 and most of the shops were closed for the holiday. But advanc and autzone were open. They had it in the 12point but not a freakin 6pt, weird. Impact quality, but it's not a six point? Go figure.

Guess what they did have? Yep a 34mm 6pt (14.95). So, I picked it up and used it successfully. Granted it was 13/500 too big
