Noisy Shutdown
Noisy Shutdown
Whenever I shut my truck off, it sounds like somebody is beating in the engine with a hammer. Just wondering if this is normal? It runs fine, then when I turn off the key it goes bump bump pretty hard and the whole truck shakes about five or six times before it shuts down? Would this be because the fuels shutoff solenoid shuts off the fuel that quickly?
Just wondering. None of the diesel tractors on the farm would shut down as loudly as my truck does. Once in awhile it'll shut down pretty quiet, but not normally.
Thanks for any input.

Not unheard of for a 1st gen to shut down like that.
Might not hurt to check out the motor mounts and what not. Make sure that they are tight and not worn out.

just a thought try letting it idle for 20 -30 seconds before you shut down to let the compressor wheel slow down . if I shut mine off without letting it idle for a minute or so it shakes just like your described.
