Angry No radio!

My radio has been on fritz for quite a while. Would static and sound go out when hit a bump. Now, just to hear static for a split second, I have to slam the door, but thats it. Display stays on, but sound quits. I just soldered everything to make sure, but that wasnt the problem. Any clues?

Sounds like the radio is shot. Any Chrysler radio from about 1985-1998 will plop in like it grew there, or you can replace it with an aftermarket radio.

Well it was an aftermarket radio. JVC cd player. I have 2. So that was the first thing I tried. Im thinking the jvc connector may be bad.

Well if you happen to have the stock speakers still in the doors they could be the one that are pre-amped and a bad connection will do what you are saying. I had this problem in my 01 and it drove me nuts because I had ben installing radios and speakers in my vehicles and others for years. Check it out and maybe that will fix it.

I dont think stock speakers in a 91 were preamped. They have been replaced anyway.

Okay I need some help pretty bad...Been fighting this for weeks now, and I Cant STAND no radio! Ive replaced the harness between factory wiring and radio, resoldered it all. Still nothing. Could this be an antenna problem, or what? I am stumped. Anybody?

Does it make sound with a cd? Or do both radio and cd exhibit the same symptoms? Also, how many speakers? Just the 6x9's in the doors, or more? If you are not getting any cd or radio, by what you describe it sounds like your speaker wiring may be shorting somewhere. Have you checked that already?

No radio, no cd, and no usb (its a fancy radio). Just 2 6x9s, but their only a year old, and theres no rust to be found in or out on my truck. If one speaker wire shorts, would that cut both of them out?

It may, because the deck may have an overload shutdown circuit in it.

no randy if 1 shorts then its just that 1 thats cuts out, and the others will still paly. my best guess would be a ground or harness. i say drive up to ft. worth and have some1 tinker it for you, got mine done for 40 bucks and couldnt love it more, good luck man!

I have had a deck that cuts them all before . . .
