Newbie post: where to get front main seal?

I bought TST's kit (nice kit!) to do my dowel pin killing, but I ended up messing up the 2 way (dust and oil seal) front main seal trying to get the cover back on. Called around here and the *********** wants $50, kragen wants $60. Anywhere I can get them online cheaper? I looked at TST, ATS and piers diesel and couldn't find anything, but maybe I'm blind. For the $50 price at the dealership, I could just get another TST kit sent to me. I probably sound like a edit here, but I have shoulder surgery coming up in about 1.5 weeks, which means no paycheck for me! Thanks for all your help.

The only other place I can think of is a Cummins dealer. Thats where I got mine, not cheap either.

Ok I called and found this info from a diesel mech. friend. Go to napa and get seal # 24868 Should be around $25.00 to $30.00 bucks
He told me that is the front seal that they use for our trucks.

Get it from Cummins. It is about $35. Be sure to ask them for a copy of the instructions that go with it. They have to copy it out of a book. It is an updated procedure to go with the seal. It includes a teflon sleeve for installation so the lip on the seal is not damaged during installation.

Cummins only please! If your crank has any grooves or wear that can be felt with a fingernail or sharp object, you'll need to get the front seal/wear sleeve kit ~$79 from Cummins vs. the $29 for the seal only. If not, it will leak.

They probably all come from one or two main suppliers, just like auto batteries, so who cares who`s name is on the box? And if the crank is grooved (wich it probably is, mine is @ 175K) just make sure to set the seal at a slightly different depth in the front cover so the seal lip hits virgin steel. Mines been good for about 10k now, in fact it`s one of the FEW places that DON`T leak, LOL!
