New to me hx 35

I just got an hx 35 supposed to be off of a 98' 12 valve. Two questions. Why doesn't it have a silencer ring. Doesn't even have a place for one it looks like. and what should I do with the rubber hose off of the waste gate

Some industrial turbos don't use a silencer ring. That may be the case with your turbo. The rubber hose should go from the wastegate to a source of boost to operate it. You could run a line from the port on the head to the waste gate like some of the 2nd gen do.

You can block the wastegate off, install a T fitting or drill and tap for another fitting to supply the wastegate in the intake manifold or even on the supply side of the turbo
