It seems to me the old carpet would be full of heavily impacted dirt and other undesirables...Whatever is under it likely holds moisture and odors...It might also make the new carpet lumpy...Just my impressions from thinking about it......Ben

The old carpet is nearly as clean as new. Been shampooed and clean water pressure washed every summer since 1991. I pull the seat to do it.That part I'm not concerned with. just fitment.

My truck came from Texas where it was used to haul cattle I think. The carpet was so filthy I finally took out the seat and took the carpet to the carwash and pressure washed it. About an hour and several dollars in quarters I finally got it reasonably clean. It still has some stains but it's good enough for now.

All that good Texas dirt gone to waste...You'll regret that when lettuce is selling for $10 a head......Ben

Won't be here for a week or so but will probably have to use the heat gun to get it to lay down. Still forecasting snow around here next 10 days

The major drawback from putting the new carpet over the old carpet is that the "gas" pedal is unlikely to have full travel, meaning you may not have full throttle. I suppose it could adjusted on the cable/pump side, but ...

I'll check into that.Decent garage on you tube has a video on how to space the pedal assembly out for more travel.

We just got a truckload of "dirt" from the mushroom farm delivered for use in the garden. Smells like money!

The best insulated car I ever had for temperature & sound was my first car. A 1959 plymouth savoy 2dr sedan.First did the doors and rear seat quarters with 1/2" jute. Then the floors firewall to package tray.Adjusted the doors for perfect fit.**** blue& turquoise carpet.A Lear 4 track stereo with 4 speakers. This was 1968.With stock exhaust this thing was super quiet and for the time that 4 track boomed.

Almost done with reassembly. A guy on craigslist had a lot of 1/2" jute free and it was enough to do the whole cab. Will post pics when done.Right now I'm in a quandry about what to do with the scuff plates. I could polish them which I did on one corner of the driver side plate. Looks great but the issue being for how long? My days of polishing aluminum over and over are gone.Anyone ever try clear powder coating on a polished alum part? Clear spray paint?

Why not order some kilmatt? It’s made to kill noise and heat/cold. Seems crazy to put carpet over carpet. If it was loud before, you expect a minimal difference.
