Should have greased it more often, this decade.

Haha, Grease / Schmease.

Buy it from autozone, expect to replace it again.

Buy a quality U-Joint from Spicer, and your results will be significantly different.

I put two sets of autozone axle joints in my D-60 mini axles at each wheel hub. Lasted a couple years. The trunions do not allow grease to flow to all 4 caps. Two caps were perfect, two caps were rotted out. Junk U-joints don't last...

Period.

Greased the others, just for good measure.

I don't think I've ever had to replace a ujoint from wear, that I've installed myself. I always buy cheap ujoints and grease once or twice per oil change.

This was negligence, pure and simple. I have no excuse, except winters here are long and cold!

I used to do the "one or two pump and the centrifugal force will make sure the grease gets into all the cups.." but I found this is not the case since there tends to be one or two of the grease passages that tend to gum up and then don't get any grease. Now I keep pumping grease into them until I see it pushing past all the cup seals....been lasting a lot longer now. And grease is way cheaper than a replacement U-joint and the time it takes to swap them out.

There are those that will criticize me and call me crazy, but I don't care. They don't live where I live. The best thing I ever did for my front axle and drive shaft was to leave the hubs locked in. No more beat up drive shafts or rusty bearings. Keep things moving to keep the lube circulating. As far as fuel mileage, I never recorded any difference.

Grease is your friend , I do mine 4x a year , every fitting under there . Drop the front shaft and grease the CV ball and joints every fall before winter . Road Salt is the worst ever on anything under anything that moves on the road here

I hear ya. Northern Saskatchewan. And these Toyo tires are great in snow, but I can’t pull away from the curb in the morning because they have ZERO siping. They’ll be gone by next winter. Maybe …. Lol.
