New to board another Q... sorry

I am just looking for a list of pros and cons of the 1st gen to a 2nd. Price is a major factor in my decision and the 1st gen trucks are cheape to buy, I also kinda like the styling better than the newer trucks.
From what I have read it seems a 93 would be the year to find. What common problems shold I be looking for, or expect. How is it gonna pull compared to a 2nd gen?

Thanks
Andy

Andy-
I just went through the same learning curve 6 months ago. The 1st gens do not have the same power potential as the newer trucks, but they are plenty strong. The 2nd gen trucks are less laggy when stock, but the 1st gens can be made to run very well for little money. Price was the big factor for me as well, and I decided that all I really wanted was a responsive truck that sounded good, so a 1st gen is fine for me. As for what year to get - '91.5 - 93 have the intercooler, look for the "new" grill to identify intercooled trucks. However, there are plenty of guys on this board with non-intercooled trucks and they love 'em, so I wouldn't rule them out unless you're hauling something really heavy. The intercooled trucks have a better radiator that makes them better suited to towing heavy stuff.
Common problems: look out for rust. The front of the roof is prone to rusting from the inside out. The floors rust out due to leaky windshields, vents, and cracked cowls. Worn out front suspension pieces are common on 2wd's. If a 5 speed, make sure it doesn't jump out of 5th gear. Also beware of the KDP and the damage associated with it.
I bought mine out on Ebay out of Texas for $4550, and I'm thrilled with it. I grin like a maniac when I run up through the gears, and I have hardly begun to bomb it.
