Most are plastic but good ones are machined steel.

They really tear open sheetmetal like a canopener when it gets too close.

Every time I see those things I think of Ben-Hur. really though they are just thin nut covers. There are thousands of thse things laying along freeways allover the country

The regular lug nuts are pretty hard on Honda Civics too ask me how i know.

No unfortunately I did not have anything when I got hit a few years ago, I am still trying to find the ones I want,
I want them on my stock steel rim, my steel rims ride better than my aluminum ones did.

I know there are a lot of lug cap and most of them are plastic or hollow aluminum but if you want good ones, they are out there, you can get a set of threaded steel for around $200.00.

This place will make custom spikes.

My brother in law is a very good machinists, he machines custom top fuel parts and components for top racers including John Force and has 3 Fadal CNC and computerized lathes and told me he could make me a pair but they would still be expensive, he works with titanium.

About 15 years ago a semi drifted into the side of my sisters mint condition 1970 Cougar and did serious damage to the drivers side sheetmetal.

Loved Mad Max, before my daughter was born I had a 1975 Suburban with 34" tires 4.10 gears and a built 350, push bumpers and guards on both ends roll bar inside, ultimate road warrior, prefect for trips into Los Angeles it was known as my Sub-Urban Assault Vehicle.

Unfortunately I had to sell it after my daughter was born, her first 6 months she spent in NICU and I did not fit in the parking garage.
