Need More RPM's!

Just got the truck back on the road and the thing hits the governor before the end of a 1/4 mile run. Does anyone have a part number and source for a governor spring higher than 3200?

Here is an article from a while back. Have you made sure you are getting full throttle lever travel. to get it you have to grind the lever stops near the coiled throttle spring.

The high idle screw is backed out all the way and the lever is ground to clear the fuel line, it gets close to full travel but the limit now is the throw in the pedal assembly. I am going to remount the throttle rod on the plate that hooks up to the throttle cable farther away from the pivot so that it opens the throttle more for the given amount of pedal travel.

Why don' t you just try grinding the bracket that stops the throttle cam from rotating all the way first......it's easy to do and don't take no time at all.....
Look on the bottom of the throttle "cam" on the back side.....as you cycle open the throttle there is a piece of metal protruding that is at 90* to the throttle cam itself....that piece of metal comes up against a 'stop' on the bracket I mentioned...just use a dremel grinder and open up the oval bracket opening so the metal piece doesn't contact it....good to go..

pb....

I have already ground the stop off of the throttle cam, my limit now is the amount of pedal travel.

Can always heat and bend the pedal in the cab so it sits off the floor some. And or use some washers to take the slack out of the throttle cable, down at the pedal, this also will bring the pedal off the floor. An overdrive transmission will get you more too I imagine.

I have a new 3800 spring that is listed in that link. Cost me $14 bucks and change. Its yours for what I gave for it.

I already stacked a bunch of washers under there to remove all the slack, but i never thought about bending the pedal, so i guess thats next.

I will consider the governor spring, but I was really looking for something like a 4200, which I have seen that one member is running, I just need to find out the part number and if they are available.

Good luck getting to the bottom of that members spring number . The good Pastor posted some spring numbers a ways back on TDR. Only thing is you'll run into different spring lengths and sizes. This 3800 is about an 1/8" longer than stock and 3200 springs. But its much thicker and STIFFER. Stiff is what you want. It would be nice if you had a Bosch shop with springs in stock, that way you could compare all the ones they have to the stock spring. I went to Scheids, gave them all the part number, which were good and in their computer they all were described as 'springs', but no other info was available on them. They also had to order them. So I took a chance on two of them. Come to find out one of them was a 2800rpm spring, wasted $14.

I'd test out the 3800 spring now, but I'm having a pump built with a 14mm head, so I don't need one, just a 3200 for now.

Thanks for the info and link, now I just need to try and track something down. Should these be available through any Bosch service department?
