Need lift pump upgrade!

i took my friends for a ride a few mins ago and we did a pull from about 35 to around 80 then when i let out of it it died. so pretty much it ran out of fuel. once i cranked it WOT to prime the pump it fired right back up and ran fine so before I burn up my VE i need to get a better lift pump. so my question is what to get and how much will it cost? i want to get it done soon so i can go play

Either a low pressure piston pump, or 2nd gen piston pump with a regulator would serve you well.

I would recommend a Raptor or an ADII so that you have the adjustable regulator.

Big surprise there. Those are nice systems but overly complicated for your needs.

funny

With stock injectors and turned pump a low pressure pump has maintained 10psi no problem, even with slightly larger injectors i'm sure it'll still keep up. Plus it'll last a long time and if you're alternator goes bad you could keep driving until you run out of fuel. Do that with a raptor/fass and no alternator.

Curious as to what the stock 1st gen lift pump puts out psi wise with say a stock to mild tune.
Is the piston pump a stock 2nd gen 12v item?

0 psi after pump tweaks.

80% of the time.

they run like 4-6 psi stock i believe, if its a good one

gotta get rid of the stockers after some fuel is added.

A stock 2nd gen piston pump, without a regulator will push the front seal out of the VE. With a regulator, you can safely run it.

You need the low pressure one found on agricultural equipment, and I believe you can order it from John Deere.

I know the FIRST gen needs a low pressure piston pump old part# 3936320 new # 4988751 @ $186.61 and 2 gaskets old # 3931348 new # 3939258 @ 2.10 each and last a spacer # 3914284 @ 12.86

What i would like to know is did a second gen 12v come stock with a piston pump or did they have a similar lift pump as the 1st gen, Just out of curiosity.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand your question.

Like apwatson said, the 2nd gens came stock with a piston pump, unlike a 1st gen diaphram lift pump.

No problem, I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words
On my conversion I am using a 92 ctd with a 94 fuel filter head and will run the piston pump. I wonder if I could take the fuel line from any 2nd gen 12v from the piston pump to the fuel filter head. I still need to make one up to go from the filter to the I/C and it may be easier to just make both.
