Thumbs down Need dually rear end FAST or Complete parts Truck

I just posted 2 wanted ads. Thank God for want ads. I lost my rear duals at 60MPH and destroyed the rear axle housing. I'm not wanting to use axle surgeons because the gears are bad too. I would like a Dana 70 3:54 ratio limited slip if possible. I will buy a rear end only or whole parts truck. What do you have? Mine has a utility bed so the Spring centers are 43 1/4" center to center. 57 1/2" Backing plate to backing plate. Thanks, Steve Snyder765 748 3105 ANYTIME

I don't have a rear Pontiac, but, I'm kinda curious if your rear had the nylon nut with the wedge style lock, or if you converted over to the dual nuts with the lock ring?

As long as you are changing rears, go to the Dana 80 for the stronger gears, no point in using the lighter rear.

Yes it had just one single 2 1/2" nylon locking nut. I had replaced the rear seal on the other side and noticed that the nut was not very tight. The nylon was pretty worn. So I did order a new nut from dodge at $30 plus for one nut and the locking clip thing. Which by the way was sitting loose in the drum. I should have inspected the other side then. SO I CAN USE A DANA 80???? That would expand my possiblities anyway. Thanks for the help.

There's a guy on e-bay that has a truck listed, but when you click on it, it states he's parting out the truck. I think it was a dually. try Dodge Cummins on the e-bay search car, if momma doesn't slap me in the head and tell me to get off the computer, I'll see if I can't find the link for you.

I'm going to look now. I have been watching ebay for a month with no real luck yet. I've been watching the guy in Wisconson that has the 92 box truck. It's getting a little too high now $$mad:

You might tell us what the truck is. Year, etc.

we have a D70 out of a mid 70's truck, cab and chassis width, anyone know its the right width? NOt sure when dad would get a chance to measure it. I think it might be a 4.10 tho, but we'd sell it pretty cheap...

If you happen to get a first gen parts truck I would be interested in the fanshroud. The dealer says no more, and the wreckin yards had no luck.
Thanks.
Apache.

The truck local to me is a 1984 350cc. It is a gasser, dual wheel and has about a 10 foot box mounted on it. The truck is rough for making use of it. It has a four speed manual in it. The owner does not want to part it out and is asking $1200 for it. I would assume that it could be purchased for less. I did not get the ratio but with a gasser, it is not going to be a 3.54.

I just bought a 75 1 ton dually power wagon, I would sell the rear end, unfortunately your truck has an ABS sensor in the housing and the older units dont have the sensor hole. I believe mine is 4:10 but I havent checked yet.

I went ahead an hired "Axle Surgeons" to replace the "spindle" on the drivers side rear housing. Cost $650! then I had to buy a backing plate, bearings and seal, brake hardware etc... Final cost about $800! and the posi unit is still bad! Need to choke on that project next. Thanks everyone. I will definately go to http://www.car-part.com/ FIRST next time. Steve
