Question Are Napa Power-steering Pumps No Better Than Their Fan-clutches ??

On the son's 90 model = bad pump #3 in a row.

When first starting = no power-steering at all, like it didn't even have power assist.

After several miles, it will sort of begin to work, like one that is almost out of fluid, although it has plenty.

There is a constant "very low on fluid" howl from the pump.

It also "pukes" the fluid out the cap.

Is there anything else that could cause this??

Not sure if the pumps were NEW or REBUILT, as we just inherited the history.

Thanks.

I replaced mine 2 weeks ago and now have over 6000 miles on it with not a single problem.

It was a NAPA part and next I'm replacing the fan clutch today, I hope I have the same luck as I did with the P/S pump

Did somebody crank the adjustment screw on the steering box down too tight?.

Sounds like air in the system. It will foam up and push fluid out the cap.

I agree, air in the system would do this...

it does sound like air in the system. lift the front wheels and turn the wheel back and forth for a while. it should eventually work all the air out.
