more 47rh questions
Ok to start with my friend had a 95 cummins and by some wierd crazy chance he got his hands on a free Nv5600 and took his kinda lazy but still working 47rh out of it. It was a 4x4 he still has the t case. I want to get the trans from him cause I need a TC for my good shifting 727. What I was wondering is I have a 2wd is it as easy as having my trans guy swap the output shaft and but a tail shaft one it or is there more to it than just that? Also will a 94-07 bell housing adapter work or is it more limited than that?
I wanted to trade my 727 to him for it cause he wants to use the 47rh for a jeep 4bt swap but he wants overdrive he has d60 d70 with 4.10 in them and wants to turn 36`s and drive it on the street.

If you want to make it 2wd all you need is a 2wd tail housing and output shaft and swap the guts or a whole 2wd overdrive section. To install it in your truck you'll have to shorten the drive shaft and you'll probably have to modify you trans mount a little bit. You would need to add 2 switches so you can control overdrive and lockup.
The 94 to 02 bell housing adapter will fit, I don't know about the 03-07's.
Even if you get the 47RH you're still going to have to do a little work to it so you don't finish it off.

ya I was going to do a few things to it. and get a goerend tc and maybe a vb well it seems like it is going to be a lot of $$$ to find a 2wd od unit and tailshaft/output shaft. do you think I would be better off finding a 2wd 47rh rather than trying to find all those peices. I wish I woudl have known that I was going to buy this truck we just parted out a v10 it was also a 4x4 but I could have got the trans for free with a broken bellhousing. I could have sold the t case to help on $$ for this project and I would have had some other parts. I think if it is going to cost more than I paid for the truck($2500) I might just buy a tc for my 727 and live with it for now untill it blows then swap or maybe ill come across some stupid good deal before then like a free nv5600 or 4500.

Its not hard to put $$$ into an auto to do it right. I have close to $2200 just in parts.
Go down to the trans shop and see if he can find a 2wd tail piece in the used parts scene. Shouldn't be too hard.

look in the classifieds there is a 47rh 2wd trans now. I wish i went that route instead of my getrag. I would love to have a built auto instead... but i am sure if my rag wasn't a unusual noise makers... i.e bad bearings and syncros... i would like it better

I've done that, took the OD parts from a 518 and used the front of a 47RE and the overdrive guts and made a 47RH out of the mess. The RE has stronger parts inside.
