Moparty?
Moparty?
Anybody going to Holley MOPARTY next weekend in Bowling Green KY? I'm heading down with my dad. It will wear him out but should be worth it.
The next best thing to Carlisle for us, only about 2 hours ride.
Cheers,

Didn't know about it. Music City Mopar club should be having theirs pretty soon. It was rather small last year. Going to a driver appreciation picnic this Saturday in Nashville. I like Beech Bend. Ran the dually down the track in 2008. 20.72et.
Don't know how many, if any, trucks will be there but should be a bunch of muscle cars. Looking forward to the Survivors Show and the swap meet.
My grandfather worked as a salesman at a CPDD dealership while my dad was growing up, so he was surrounded by post war and 50's vehicles. He'll enjoy the show.
Maybe some from Music City Mopar will be there too. Close enough anyway.

I was just thinking of you the past few days; I had the Power Kings off and back on the truck while doing some brake repair = over 100,000-miles and still going strong = not many radials can compete with that.
I have searched high and low for a new set just like them but ain't having any luck finding them.
Good to hear from you brother!
I've not ever been to Beach Bend that I recall. Good thing pop has cataracts, otherwise he may have a heart attack!
A local place here ordered me some Deestones for my '77 W200 this past spring and I've been really pleased with them so far. Not the same tread pattern as the Power Kings but a heavy bias tire with some really deep lugs.
You still driving the old Cummins powered Ford?

Still going strong...
I have been looking at some really deep-lug Deestones with the old Firestone Super Traction design; I really like their look; Deestone even offers them in 12-ply = probably bend the tire tools and rims getting them on and off.
The tread pattern I am looking at used to be available in two styles; one had the "points" of the lugs all pointing the same direction and everybody always managed to mount them backwards to the way the designer meant them to be; the other style had the "points" pointing one way on one side of the tread and the opposite direction on the other side; either design looks wicked and can pick up big fist-sized rocks to click-click-click until they sling them into a mirror or fender.
Armstrong used to offer the same tread design; I believe they called it Tru-Trac.
Years and years ago, the "hot cap" recappers did the design where all the "points" went the same direction and they sold like wildfire; 7.00-15 were like $19 apiece and 7.50-16 were $24 and they were pin-holed for ice studs; the flimsy steel-belted radials were the demise of recappers as the sidewalls of the radials were barely capable of wearing out the original tread.
When I was a kid, we had customers who had recapped the same set of winter tires eight or ten different times --- talk about recycling.
Everybody had big old heavy rear-wheel-drive cars and they never salted the roads and nobody ever had much trouble going anywhere they needed to; now, it can threaten to frost and the salt will be piled up a foot deep in the intersections and people in these little toodle-around joke-mobiles will pile them up in the fencerows.

I got these to replace my old Firestones: https://deestonetireusa.com/wp-conte...ck-400x250.png They even have 14 ply! Probably don't even need air unless you're loaded...
MoParty was a blast! Lots of cool old muscle cars from Survivors to ragged out. We got to see the drags, thrill rides, autocross, short course etc. We missed the HooptieX and Offroad course as they got rained out before we could get up there (a Jeep thing...). Still trying to figure out how an off road event gets "rained out" though...
The only things I saw topless were cars and RamChargers/TrailDusters but they were beautiful to look at too.
Saw some really nice Cummins powered Dodges. Had a great conversation with a fellow from Arkansas. He had his father's silver W150 stepside (maybe a '76, can't remember). It looked original with the hood closed except for the '92 dash and the axles & fuel tank. And the bigger Discovery tires. He even had the old Selectros on the hubs - meant to ask him about those but forgot. He was hanging out with a red 1970 crew cab Cummins. Nearby was a blue, later 70s crew cab Cummins as well.
There was one Panel Wagon power wagon and a Pilot House too. Eveything else was cars or two wheel drive. I did see another late 60/70 crew cab 4x4 but it was driving around so I didn't get to get up close or hear it.
I didn't go looking to buy anything (other than a '70s dash if I saw an affordable one) but a fellow had a really nice 1976 Dodge W100-800 Shop Manual for $10 so I got me a souvenir!
Definitely going back next year!
