OK, using the speed calculator that Ken posted, 70mph = 1,750rpm. You think the little Cummins has enough torque to move this tall 10K truck down the road at 70 in O.D.? I better keep an eye on the pyrometer.

Trooper, next Friday I'll be passing through your area headed to the Brooks truck show. Make an 8 mile drive north and we can meet up

Just the truck will be no trouble at all. Might need to drop a gear on steep grades - or just turn up the pump.

Dang thats a good overdrive!!! .71 overdrive is deeper than a getrag or NV4500 Overdrive.

with 3.73's and those huge tires that thing is gonna be idling cruising on the highway

Turning the pump up will help though , While you had the engine out you should of put a 3200 rpm gov. spring in it, would of been 100x easier than when in the truck

Do you have a thermocouple and temp gauge for that brownie.

The pump leaked diesel so...unfortunitly I had it rebuild before I met you guys LoL.

CS, I like the low to mid range power, why the 3,200 spring?

CAT, only got a oil temp gauge on the diesel but all the others(frt diff, trans, tnsfr case, Brwny, and rr end) are all ready with 1/8 NPT. Just need some more $$$

Just gives you some more useable RPM. And better throttle response. And its cheap and we all like that

Thanks CS.

Now the girl friend says the front bumper looks hideous! I might be able to shorten it 6-8" but kinda like it myself? What do you guys think?

In my opinion, it'd look better tucked back as close to the body as possible. But it's your truck! Do what YOU think looks good

Nah, if you move it in you'll lose that winch. It's cool like it is.

Ok you asked so I'll give my opinion. Put a big chrome texas style 20 inch drop bumper out front like a Peterbilt and box in the top portion and drop some diamond plate on both sides and behind the winch that would make a heck of a work platform while turnin wrenches under the hood. The drop bumper is just me liking flashy stuff but the diamond plate deck would really come in handy up there mabey strap down a cooler as long as its below the headlight that's where we put the cooler on our bucket truck at work (it has a bumper like yours but with the deck on it). That's my op but whatever you decide to do you have one cool truck its big, uniqe, very yellow, it has a Cummins and the coolest thing of all YOU BUILT IT!!!

The F350 inside rail steering box blocked the drive line for the mechanical winch. I bought an electric winch a to put on a trailer but never did, so more customizing .

Going to try a diet program for the 300lb bumper. Hope to loose about 75lbs.
Should shorten up about 8".

CP, when doing stuff from scratch the extra ideas are very help full. Thanks for the good reply.

The bumper needs work and I have some good diamond plate aluminum rem. Using tubing with the aluminum would make nice wrap around bumper with storage area. I also need to shed some weight.

Got a picture?

Sorry MC i've been in New York City for the past six weeks with my daughter for her cancer treatments and were still here but i should be home next week for a week so if the other crew has'nt stolen our truck ill try to remember to shoot some pics of it that one doesnt have a winch. One of our other bucket trucks has the winch mounted low enough in the bumper that it has diamond plate across the top of the whole bumper with a hinged door above the winch portion for access. i've often thought that it would be nice to fab a shallow box on either side of the winch for chains, a clevis and strap etc. etc. with the same hinged style top made from diamond plate as is over the winch. I dont know about you but i have a deep single lid toolbox and the bottom is about to fall out from all the weight of the stuff crammed in there so i'm always thinkin about ways to make more storage space in the nooks and crannies.

Also I want to wave a hand to all my first gen family, I haven't been on in a while we've got alot going on right now and i miss being here so Wanna, Richie O, Jim Lane, Rollin Coal Smoke and anyone else i forgot to mention i hope ya'll are havin a great summer!!!
