Question Lowering EGT with out loosing power?

Will advancing the pump timing lower egt? I know on a gas car you can make the headers glow red at idle if you retard the timing a bunch

I no rich and lean theary between gas and diesol are the opisit ,just making shore timing theary is the same!

Any ether ideas?

You could add the apropriate amount of air and then egts would be fine. Water/meth also helps a fair bit. The stock non intercooled intake horn is also very restrictive causing high egts. Stock exh is restricitive. Theres many things that can be modifyed/ improved for better flow to help cool things down

no, you could either use one from a newer truck, order a 3 inch one from cummins (its not the same style as the non ic trucks), or have one custom made.

I sea in you discription that you are using the 16cm housing! did you have a pyro before you changed the 16cm housing? If so how much did it change egt?

Can you make your egt hit 1200*

I have bought a 16cm housing but if it won't help with the egt(esp. when pulling trailer) i'm not going to install it.

I know that i'm asking a lot of ????? but racing season is around the corner and would like to get over that d.,..m hill a litte bit better and with out wary of any damage to the eng.

To answer your original question, yes, advancing timing will lower EGT.

Another area that gets overlooked when EGT's are an issue is the AFC settings. There is a point were the benefit vs the side effects drops big time.
You can often ease or even make a fair bit of difference in EGT's by tweaking this thing....
Give it a try and see if you can find the middle ground were you feel no loss of performance but see some EGT improvement.

pb...

At the time I installed my 16cm housing was the time I installed my pyro as well as POD injectors so I have no clue whether it made a difference or not
