Low psi after piston pump install

I took a disphram pump off and put a delphi 702 on my 92 I am happy with the way it works. with the old pump the milage was all over the map same driving one tank was 12 the next was 16 even out on the freeway now it 15-16 in town and 18 on the freeway and whene I put my boot to it moves out with the old pump one time it would think about it the next it would move out just fine Ken
