Lost speed, overdrive, gauge lights, and ability to turn on/off int. dome lights.....
Went up to Mt. Baker this past weekend and had a great weekend in the new deep snow. I just purchased a camper a few weeks back and this was my first weekend sleeping in it. Ended up driving up the highway to the mountain at about midnight with over a foot of fresh snow on the unplowed road. My new Coopers handled the snow like a champ. Anyways got up to the lot friday night and stayed until sunday. It probably snowed another foot or so over the weekend while we there, and temps stayed in the 20's.
On the way down the road I noticed a few things right off the bat. My speedo wasn't working, and soon discovered my overdrive wasn't working either. I also realized little later I had no gauge lights and I could not turn on the interior lamp.
After reading up on this forum and others (yes I used the search function) it sounds like at least part of the problem could be the vss sensor, or just a general wiring short. I just wanted to check here before I start wasting money on parts I might not need. I suck with electrical so If it seems to be a greater electrical problem I may just take it to the auto electric place down the street from my house.
Does anyone here have any insight into this?
thanks

Speedo, And Overdrive need a proper signal from the CPS (crank position sensor) There are 3 or 4 connection on the wiring from the CPS to the main harness....so pull and check for corrosion. Also check your gap on the CPS, and clean it....should be .048 to .051 I believe.
Check all your grounds....remove, sand to shiny metal and re-install. Your headlight and interior lights are probably a bad headlight switch....especially if you have tailight on the camper.....you probably had a bad ground somewhere and the switch cooked a tad from too much load. I would replace the headlight switch, and convert to relays.
That's my 2 cents worth....

Just remember when you check this gap you are not supposed to use a regular steel feeler gauge, if I remember correctly it will ruin the CPS

I don't think it will ruin it but it is magnetic so you can't really feel the gap.

When I was dealing with ECM troubles it was suggested to pull the CPS and clean it with a shot of compressed air to make sure there was nothing ferrous stuck to it ... then I used a cardboard matchbook to set the gap
