Wow, looks like it's been over a year and a half since I got to this. So today I shot the frame with black Fluid Film, then mounted the steering gear and this brace I had on the shelf.

That steering brace looks like a good idea.

Hadn't heard of the Fluid Film Black. I'll have to try some.

Thank you for reviving the post and sharing with us!

When I was in Colombia you would not believe all the rust free trucks like yours I saw down there.

I had a little time to work on this today.. I pulled the plow frame, front bumper and grill, rear bumper and unbolted the bed. My shoulders are going to pay for this.

Nice job! No one understands how much work it is to daily these trucks and keep them from dissolving into the ground.

Pulled the plow frame??? please tell me you are not using that truck for a plow rig. Where I'm from it's not horrible but they still use chemicals and salt and my old 89 is is not going to live to many more years from it.

Man oh man, that D700 is a real beauty. I have been keeping my eye out for one of those for my next project, but they are so incredible hard to find around these parts. You sure did do it service!

Just my driveway, I used to plow up in Pa. I know it's hard on these trucks.

After years of pulling a LOT of 1200# Cummins motors, transmissions and T-cases different ways. I have found that pulling the cab and lowering the engine into the frame from above is the easiest on my body.

Looking good.

Thanks Oliver that's what I ended up doing. It would be a shame to not freshen up the paint on the engine since it out. Obviously it's not like a fresh rebuild ready for paint. How did you normally prep for paint knok the loose stuff off and degrease?
