IP Timing

IP Timing

Hey guys,
Im building a motor for a guy who had a timing case bolt come out and break his cam. He tore the motor down before i got there and didnt mark the IP or set it at TDC. I have got everything on it besides the IP and front cover. I need to figure out how to set it at TDC on # 1 so i can put it back together. I was also wondering what letter the IP gear timed with on the cam gear. Thanks a bunch!

"C" on the cam lines up with "E" on the IP. On the crank with #1 at TDC, "0" no the crank goes between "0 0" on the cam. Line 'er up like that and you can't get the pump wrong. It's a 1:1 drive off the cam, and if it's lined up on the cam right and the cam is timed to the crank you are golden.

Timing

Thanks for the reply, I have the cam in and matched with the crank, however the cam doesnt have a c on it, it has a 0, as well as the double 0 that the crank lines up with. Also the injection pump is not at TDC for #1 cylinder. I dont know what its at and the guy that tore down the motor doesnt either since he didnt get it to #1 TDC before tearing apart so the IP would be off. Right?
