Ip reseal
Ip reseal
hey everyone.
So over the years ive noticed my Ip will be wet with diesel once in a while. (not that often) itll leak a bit then stop. and the other day i noticed it was leaking way more the normal to the point where it is dripping. ive found that its dripping from the bottom of the KSB.
Im wondering if i can do a reseal on just the KSB? and if it can be done without removing the pump?
annnnnd, what is the difficulty level on doing a pump reseal myself?
annnd if brought to a shop any ideas what would be a reasonable price to pay someone to do it?
Im in canadain dollars by the way.
thanx!

Is it actually leaking from the KSB or just dripping off the case under the KSB? Reason is, the back side of the KSB has a plate held on by 2 Torx head bolts sealed by an o-ring. This is a common leak prone area. Pump must be removed to fix, but simple to fix. Others will say to reseal entire pump, but I have fixed several with no additional problems.
If you were closer to me...I'm over in Abbotsford BC...I'd give you a hand in resealing your pump. I've done a few and they are not that bad. More intimidating for the first timer then anything.
As for taking it to a shop for a re-seal. They will probably charge you well over $500 I'd suspect. You can call BD diesel here in Abbotsford for a quote.
But to your other question...yes the KSB could be done in the truck...be a bit of a pain though IMO. And if it is leaking from the plate on the back side of the pump...it's the back side of the KSB piston...so same exact location and orientation. Then the pump would have to come out. And if it's out I would definitely do a complete reseal.
