IP compatibility? 91 and 93
IP compatibility? 91 and 93
so, trying to figure out if i can put the IP from my '91 (non-intercooled) into my '93 (intercooled). the pump in the '91 is stamped 046 026 114 . The pump in the '93 in stamped 0 460 426 205. There are some pumps on ebay that seem to cross list the numbers but then specify non-inter vs intercooled. I don't care about the cruise and the Ksb, only if the pump is engine compatible.
thanks!
thanks!
Yes you can....but you will need to chnage the delivery valves. The 6 long tubes off the back of the IP. They are different lengths between the Non-IC and IC pumps. And the KSB is wired differently....but you can just swap that as well.
Other then those things, it should swap in and run.

The non ic injector lines are longer than the ic by a bit. The ksb is powered in the opposite order. This means hard starting and lots of smoke til it gets warm. It will work but getting the proper one for your year will make life easiest

Non-IC versus IC,
Other than the delivery valves, are the head, rotor and internal rotary pump the same volume and stroke?
I have the hallowed specs for the VE but I need to dig them out.

I am no expert on the VE pump, and have NO specs.….BUT.
That being said.
They have different pressures/flow is my understanding.
The earlier motor ['89-'91] uses the bigger injectors, so it has less pressure from the pump.
That is what I remember from us discussing this swap.
I have a friend running a inter cooled injection pump on his NON I/Ced motor in his '75 crew cab with great results.
