Injectors tested today

I got them tested today and they all tested at 3650-3700 except for 1 it popped at 2200 and had a very poor patern with no atomization. I am going to have a new tip put on it and then all set to pop at the specified psi. Should get them back tomorrow. The owner of the shop told me that this could very well be causing my smoking at idle and loss of performance. I also had one copper washer that was not sealing and the lifter bore was wet with fuel. I guess I will go with some of the thinner sealing washers when I put it back together.

Injectors

I Had My Injectors Pop Tested Right After I Got My Truck Almost 3 Years Ago. My Buddy Did It For ME ( Cummins Tech ) And Re-cald. Them. No Haze, Better Mpg. It Really Made A Diffrence. Buts Its About Time For Some New One's.

Hope They Work Better For Ya.

Bob.

JUST WONDERING , HOW MUCH IS THIS COSTING YOU. I WAS SPOILED AND HAD A FREIND DO IT FOR ME. NO BEING ON THE EAST COAST, NO MORE HOOK UPS

I got them back today and got them inthis evening. So far much better idle, still hazes but not near as bad. Power is smoother and it is back! I had picked up a vibration about 65mph when I would push on the go pedal. That vibration is gone now. Nice and smooth. Cost me $68 for 1 new tip installed cleaned and presures adjusted with new washers and return seals. Not too bad. He even threw in a bottle of Stanadyne performance formula fuel treatment. He was going on about this new fuel ultra low sulphur and the effects that it would have on our fuel cooled and lubed pumps. Said to try it and he knew I would be back to get more.
Just glad to have the old girl back up and running driving the Toyota was starting to get to me.

Well, there is an excellent example of the value of well calibrated/poptested injectors.
It's really surprising how much of a change can be made when they're set right...
BTW, notice the pressure value's he has guys.....about perfect or near it...

can most shops do the test and calibration reliably? I found a few diesel inj shops around here but not sure which one to choose.

The difference is like night and day. I cannot believe it so much better, less smoke at idle, smoother and definately more power. I am sure the MPG will benefit from it too but my odo quit working and I will have to use the GPS on a trip before I can tell how much. I wish I had done this a long time ago!
The shop I used was Kolb Diesel they didn't charge anything for pop testing them.
