Injection Pump Leak at bottom of the pump

I am sorry to say but my VE on my 1993 auto has sprung a leak on the bottom of the pump. Upon inspecting the leak it appear to be coming from below and behind a square metal piece with writting on it which faces the driver side and is behind the plug for the KSB. I have done plenty of research and know it is not the control valve or the o-ring for the afc vent but could use the help diagnosing the problem.

The picture attached shows the location of the leak WITH a Blue Arrow except that it is behind the square silver metal piece where it attaches to the pump.

When looking at the exploded diagram provided by Jim Lane it apears that it might be O- ring # 51 which is between the hydraulic head and the main body of the pump. But I am unsure.

Can I get some opinions on where this leak is coming from and whether the seal comes in the ve seal kit and if you can retard the pump to make this fix or take the pump out to do the job.

Any and all detail is appreciated.
THanks

Bflood

The pump has to be pulled to repair that leak. #51 o-ring in the diagram is most likely the culprit and is included in the gasket kit Bosch DGK-121. Make sure you degrease the heck out of the entire engine, or at least everything on and around the pump and the pump itself prior to doing anything. This will also help you determine the exact source of the leak.

Travis, welcome to the forum.
That said, you probably won't get many responses from a 12 year old post so just start a new one. from where you say it is leaking from I would suspect that the slide pin o-ring is bad and allowing fuel to bypass it. look in the stickys at the top of the page and scroll down to the engine section .. there are several articles on resealing the ve pump
