On the son's 90 non/IC 5-speed.

Worse when the engine is cold, as in it just streams out, slowing to a slow steady drip-----drip-----drip, once it warms up.

I can't see in under and behind the pump.

It is dripping off the bottom of the pump, on the fire-wall end, just behind what looks to be an I.D.plate, where it appears that two sections of the housing bolt together.

That portion of the pump on the left side, where I can see/feel, is dry to the touch.

The drip is on the left-lower corner, and seems wetter farther in under and toward the engine.

What are your thoughts on possible sources for this leak and how do I fix ??


Am I gonna have to pull the pump to get at this ??

Sounds like a smaller version of mine. I am pulling the pump tomorrow.

 

I bet it's the cover on the backside of the timing piston. Common leak, very easy to fix - once the pump is off the truck.
