Illumination Key Halo Not Turning Off
Hey guys. Kinda stumped. Looked round and I see there's a timer that lights the halo ring, and I'm not really sure what's preventing mine from shutting off. Searched see some solutions on lighting but none on my issue.
I left the truck overnight and returned in the morning and the halo light was on. Made sure all doors were closed and left for work (in my other car) to return to the **** thing still being on. I can't figure it out. I know I can pull the bulb and save the batt drain, assuming something isn't pulling it elsewhere, but I'd rather fix it right the first time.
Any guesses?

The halo timer is probably stuck, pull the timer out of the circuit and it will disable the ring light.
Be carefull it will probably be real HOT, timer is silver cylinder above the hood release.
Dome light switch is off?

Well.... Funny story about the dome light, the bulb isn't there. Just got the truck less than a month ago. Going through and fixing the small things. I'll be sure not to fry my hand and will check that first and hunt for a replacement on RockAuto.
So I went out and checked the timer. Truck had been off a while and it was hot. Let her sit all day and came back. Sure enough it was hot.
I found this on Rock Auto http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=932681
Looks the same, so this should be it right?

Is the dome light missing because the switch is stuck? If so, replacing the halo light timer isn't going to help. Put the lamp in the dome light and troubleshoot the original problem.
As I look at the diagrams, it looks like the Halo relay is grounded by the left door switch. All the power to the halo light goes through that relay, so if it's hot, the lamp should be off. It (the delay relay) may in fact be bad.
So it looks like both the left door switch and the relay are bad.

The dome light takes a #1004 double contact bayonet base bulb and if you use and single contact base lamp in this socket you will short out the wiring.
This lamp is commonly used with ground switched circuits, it is special because it has an isolated base.
Just a bit of possibly useful information.
