2004 DEAD when Key is off, fine with key on?

HELP!!!

Was driving home tonight, and my radio went dead. Okay, no big deal, wanted an aftermarket anyway. Pulled into the driveway, turned off the key (now it is dark out so my headlights were on) and the truck went dead like it had no batteries in it. Turn the key on and the radio is still dead, but everything else works. ie: keyless entry, windows, locks, everything but the radio. Turn the key back to ACC. and the only thing that doesn't work is the horn and the radio still. But the truck will still start, and run just fine, minus the radio. I have checked all fuses, and relays. All look good. The only thing that I did today, was I found I had a blown fuse of my trailor lights and I replaced that. Other than that, all has been great until about an hour ago.

PLEASE HELP!! Thank you for any feed back.

Trailer lights should go thru a 30 or 40 amp relay type of fuse. If it blew and you had no trailer hooked up and especially if you did, check that wiring. You may have a short there. Just my .02 worth.

If you use the steering wheel tilt function often check for chaff wiring in the steering column near the pivot point. It's a problem area on a few of the early 3rd gens. And also check the ignition switch.

Update on Key off dead truck

Here is what I have found. Took to my buddies shop today and found that the IOD (Ignition Off Draw) Fuse was blown. Now with parking lights on, and nothing else, replaced the fuse, and all worked again. I have no trailer attached, driving home again tonight, and radio goes out. Turn off the Key, and CRAP, whole truck goes dead again. So I just jump out, forgeting to turn off the radio, stick another fuse in, and immediately it blows. Now, this fuse controls all ignition off power, and the radio is included for memory. Do I have a problem with my radio? HELP, again!!!

And no, I do not give my tilt steering a work out. But good idea. Thanks for your feedback.
