Ignition Question

I have a 92 W250 and when I put the key in the ignition to the run position the buzzer does not come on. However, my friends 93 does. When he puts in the key and turns it to the run position (with the truck not running) the buzzer runs for 5+ seconds. My buzzer does with when I leave the lights on and when the key is sitting with the door open.

How is it suppose to be and how do I fix it??

Thanks Guys

Are talking about the "key in the ignition" buzzer...or the "wait to start" light on the dash? The grid heater cycling can sometimes sound like a bit of a buzzer. But to my knowledge the "key in ignition" buzzer is only activated when the door is open.

After reading the post, I thought it might be a "fasten seat belts" warning that happens for several seconds when the key gets turned on with the belt undone. Perhaps the switch in the driver's buckle has been jumped out to prevent the buzzer from triggering.

Hmmm...never thought of that one. Very well could be. Should there not be a red seat belt light too?

Hmm that must be it because the PO cut the wires on the seat belt clip. Sweet!!!

if you want the buzzer to stop making noise when you have the key in the switch i think there is something that you can unplug from the ignition switch. i know i have continplated unplugging it just because of how annoying it is. no buzzer is going to remind me that my keys are in the ignition.

I actually want mine to have all the correct buzzers, they don't bother me. All of my other buzzers work correctly.

Yes I think there should be but I can't remember the exact way they operated. Seems to me that at key-on the light and buzzer would operate for several seconds unless the belt was already done up at that time (or the switch was defeated to look like the belt was done up.)

Should be a yellow box somewhere around the fuse box. I think mine is still in the glove box, it was gone when I got the truck. I did it to the 87 Dakota I had in high school too.

ya. the buzzer box should be yellow or grey depending on what year the truck is. i like how it buzzes when i leave my headlight on but i hate it when it buzzes when i leave my keys in the ignition and the door open. i like listening to music while i work on my truck.
